Trabant. Who would not know it? Somebody had one, somebody was just driving it, somebody was just sitting in it and somebody just wanted to have one. The possibility is here now. You can even drive one of the paper Jaguars.

These wonders are for showing you the beauties of the Danube-bend. During the trip you should take these cars originating from Zwickau to assigned points where after solving some riddles you can go to the next station.

The trip is touching 5 settlements and 8 obilgatory stations that can be found with the help of GPS devices, maps and photos, but it is worthy to stop more times, at other points because of the beauty of the landscape.

Trabant is a GDR car type produced by company VEB Sachsenring. In 1954 the state car companies received the task to produce small 4-person cars as soon and many as possible with weight no more than 600 kg, consumption maximum 5,5 l on 100 kms and that does not cost more than 4000 German mark. The first Trabant was finally made just in 1957, but soon it became the most popular car in the socialist countries, mainly in the GDR.

Trabant was produced for 34 years. Within this time more than 3 million got an owner. In the last years cars with 4-stroke engine were made. This car with 2-stroke engine, pistol gearshift, but without petrol gage became the symbol of socialism. This is not just a car, but also a feeling: more films and series were made of this world. An American journalist wrote when the way became free between East and West Berlin: „The stink of freedom filled the West-berliner Kurfürstendamm.”- referring to the huge Trabantflow.
